2023 – A Reflection

Posted by

I was just looking at my total posts for December and I’m ashamed of how few I have done. It’s not for lack of desire or ideas – I have a lot of topics for future posts and have started on a couple of them that I’ve saved as drafts – but just not finished with them yet. I do try to put effort and thought into them and some of the topics take some research and layout, so they just take time, but I do enjoy writing them. I can see January 2024 having a lot more posts coming than December did.

Steve and I have said for years that we needed to start a website / podcast every time we go on a brewery adventure and this year, we actually made it happen. We officially started this website in August of 2023 and have done a lot with it in less than 6 months. We really do add a lot of content to this site, even if it’s not always with posts. Our Top 10 lists take some time in putting together and we are doing some writing in those as well as constantly updating our list of breweries that we’ve visited and maintaining the list of Nashville area breweries to make sure we have the most complete and up to date information on the internet. Steve and I exchange a lot of ideas for both the podcast and website and share Google sheets where we try to write those ideas down.

What’s Coming in 2024?

Website – Some things we’re working on for next year for the website are: adding a “shop” page for a few beer related items, adding some of our own video content as a possible Youtube channel, syncing our website posts to social media, and driving more visitors to the site. We’ll also be working on improving our logo although the more I see this one the more I like it.

Podcast – Not only do we have ideas for the site, but we have ideas for the podcast as well. We have some cool ideas for guests, segments, episodes and we’ll be drinking more beer on it. Stay tuned as we tease things on social media, and I see our podcast output increasing in 2024 as we grow and book more guests.

Social Media – We are learning daily about social media and how to navigate it efficiently and make it work for us. I think I can speak for Steve as well, that we both didn’t really care much about social media before this venture and didn’t understand (or want to understand) how involved and beneficial it can be. I won’t say I love it, but I realize it’s important in growing your brand and I’m adapting to it.

Summary

In the short time we’ve been doing this we’ve already met some awesome people and I’d say made new friends in the process. This is a passion project for us and I’m sure for as long as we continue to drink beer, we’ll keep at this.

I’m excited about what 2024 holds for us and we are going to bring you new and hopefully entertaining content. We might even learn a few things together. I promise we’ll get even better. 🙂

I’m proud of what we’ve done so far – we’ve created something that didn’t exist before and whether or not it makes the world any better – we shall see.

We want to hear from you! If you read something on the site or hear a podcast – please comment. If you see something in social media – please comment. We’d love to interact with you.

I want to close by saying I wouldn’t be doing this without my buddy Steve Sullivan. This was always going to be collaboration between us and it’s working out fantastically. I enjoy hearing his ideas, seeing and hearing his work and genuinely love hanging out with him – we have a lot more brewery adventures to come. He’s a true professional and to know him is to love him. I once met several members of his family at a Reds game on one of our adventures and I introduced myself as “Steve’s hetero-life mate”. I’m not sure they quite understood that. 🙂

Cheers All!

Scott
