Appalachian State University Fermentation Sciences Program

If you listen to The Brewery Underground Podcast, often times you will hear us chatting it up with brewery owners and many others in the craft beer world. While talking about beer, and telling some great stories is always a lot of fun, so is learning!

Our recent two-part episode highlighting Appalachian State University Fermentation Sciences Program most certainly took us on thrill ride of education. Dr. Brett Taubman is at the forefront of teaching students the skills they need for fermentation opportunities. What a delight it has to be for him. He tells us throughout the years, all of his students have found work upon graduating.

You see, there is more to the fermentation sciences program than just the craft beer industry. In fact, because of the changes, he says students have explored other avenues. From wine, cider, cheese and other food products.

Stephen Moxley – a soon to be graduate also joined us to discuss his 4-year journey in this very expansive program. He told us all about the things he’s learned. Ranging from lab work, biology and chemistry. He spoke in depth on these subjects. Talk about someone with a bright future!

Appalachian State University is located in Boone, North Carolina. It has one of the best fermentation science programs in the country.

Cheers!

Steve
