Brewery Underground Podcast Episode 46- 1st Year Anniversary!
Scott and Steve are normally the ones asking the questions. On this episode, we are put on “the hot seat”.
We went to the home of our friends Tom and Frankie Shumacker. They wanted the “inside scoop” on how we go about doing this podcast.
We had a fun debate over flights vs pints. Lightning round questions of topics you wouldn’t expect like, “is a hot dog considered a sandwich”? Plus, Scott’s idea for a unique beer and so much more!
Thanks for listening!
Cheers!
Brewery Underground Podcast Episode 45 – Foamy Heads and Fait La Force Brewing Part 2
Welcome to Part 2 of this episode that we did with our homies the Foamy Heads – Rich and Mitch – who are another podcast duo out of Nashville, TN. We recorded this on the patio at Fail La Force Brewing in Nashville.
This episode continues the discussion we had about the state of craft breweries and craft beer, after we’ve seen several local breweries close recently. We also had some shared bottles we broke out with surprise appearances by Lone Star and Old Style beers.
We had a great discussion about what are some of the things that are contributing to brewery closings – is it the beer itself?, is it a lease issue?, was there an event at a brewery that the community didn’t like?, is it that people are drinking less beer and even less alcohol overall? We didn’t necessarily solve the issue but it’s a subject we are all passionate about and wanted to discuss.
We were also fortunate enough to have Parker Loudermilk, who is the owner of Fait La Force, join us for this episode to further discuss this topic, as well discussing his brewery and beer. Parker treated us to a couple of their beers, one of which was brand new and another that was almost gone. We went in depth with Parker about the beers they like to brew, some of the history of Fait La Force, how and when they got started, how they have evolved and changed in the past few years and so much more. We want to thank Parker for the use of his patio, for the beers and the time he spent with us. We also want to thank the Foamy Heads for their willingness to want to join us, for the use of their equipment, the shared pours, and for sharing this file with us. Rich and Mitch are the coolest guys and we will definitely be collaborating with them again in the near future.
This is part 2 of a 2 part episode. Cheers!

Brewery Underground Podcast Episode 44 – Foamy Heads and Fait La Force Brewing Part 1
This was an episode we did with our homies the Foamy Heads – Rich and Mitch – who are another podcast duo out of Nashville, TN. We recorded this on the patio at Fail La Force Brewing in Nashville.

Brewery Underground Podcast Episode 43 – Our Music City Brew Hop Adventure
Steve and Scott got to experience the Music City Brew Hop first hand on Friday 9/27/24 in Nashville, TN.
This episode describes our Brewery Adventures on the West Loop of Music City Brew Hop’s tour. We rode to 5 of their 6 stops and went to 5 of the 7 breweries on this loop.
We started at Tennessee Brew Works then proceeded to Fait La Force Brewing, Jackalope Brewing Company, Diskin Cider and ended at Marble Fox Brewing Company.
We talk about our experience on the trolley and how great our driver Mel was and how the trolley works. We describe each place we visited, talk about some of the beer we drank and some of the new experiences we had.
I think you’ll be able to tell that we had a fantastic time on the trolley and at each brewery. As 2 people that are Nashville locals – this is something we certainly recommend to locals AND people visiting Nashville.
The Music City Brew Hop was the center and bulk of this episode but we discussed a few other things as well. Including the flooding in Asheville, NC due to Hurricane Helene, Steve discusses the passing of the great Pete Rose with some of his own personal stories about him, and a recent Knoxville, TN trip that Scott took and the breweries he visited.
We had some fun with this one (as we always do) and had some additional fun doing some live Instagram posts from the trolley and from a couple of the breweries. These can be found on both of our Instagram accounts.
We appreciate you listening and we always welcome your feedback and comments.
Cheers!

Brewery Underground Podcast Episode 42 – Honeytree Meadery – Dru Sousan and Ross Welbon.
We are really excited to bring you this episode. We had a lot of fun and learned a lot and we hope you enjoy it.
Dru and Ross own the Honeytree Meadery in Nashville, TN and it’s a phenomenal place.
In this episode, you’re going to learn what mead is, how it’s made, misconceptions about mead, what makes Honeytree’s mead different than most (if not all) other meads in the WORLD. You’re going to learn a lot about bees and how important they are – not just for making mead – but for the environment.
We also discuss their Membership meads and how you can be a part of it, their taproom and some of the different meads they serve plus the many other offerings they have – which include cocktails, beer, and a full bar – so there is something for everyone. Bad Luck Burger Club food truck is out front permanently for food options and they have an amazing backyard patio that must be visited.
You are going to love Dru and Ross, as they are the coolest dudes! We hope after listening to this episode you pay them a visit – you are going to be blown away by their mead and the overall vibe and experience of their meadery.
So throw away your preconceived notions as to what you think mead is. If you haven’t had Honeytree Meadery’s mead – then you haven’t experienced the best.
Go visit Honeytree Meadery if you’re able to, and if you can’t because you’re out of state – you might be able to order it on their website and have it delivered to you – as they ship to 38 states plus D.C.
Cheers!

Brewery Underground Podcast Episode 41 – Pints for Prostates – Rick Lyke.
Rick Lyke is the Founder of Pints for Prostates and he joined us for an interview on 9/12/24.
Pints for Prostates is a grassroots campaign that raises awareness about prostate cancer and the importance of early detection.
Rick himself was diagnosed with prostate cancer at the age of 47 and was successfully treated, after a friend of his encouraged him to get tested, even though he had no symptoms.
Pints for Prostates attends over 100 events across the U.S. annually, including the Denver Rare Beer Tasting on October 10th 2024. At these events men, transgender women and non-binary people can get a free PSA screening for early detection of prostate cancer.
Rick is also a craft beer lover, which makes this the perfect combination of 2 of his passions.
We had fun talking to Rick and we certainly learned a lot. Even though this is a serious topic, we had some laughs along the way and talked quite a bit about craft beer too – including the world famous Utopias from Sam Adams.
September is National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, so please listen and help us support Pints for Prostates by getting the word out to friends and family to get a PSA screening. You can also volunteer, donate, host and attend events.
Cheers! Steve and Scott.
