This past Saturday (11/25/23) we had the privilege of interviewing Dark Shadow Brewing Company on our Brewery Underground Podcast. We got to speak to Keith, Rachel and Craig who were all wonderful, informative and engaging.
Dark Shadow Brewing Company is a woman owned, community supported brewery in Nashville, TN that was born during COVID in 2020. As family members who lived in different parts of the country, they started reconnecting by drinking beer together over Zoom, which eventually led to them brewing beer over Zoom and ultimately all moving to Nashville to start brewing together.
They are community supported, which means you’re able to buy into the brewery at one of their 4 levels, from $150.00 to $1000.00 and receive various perks depending on the level you sign up for – like member only events, free t-shirt, discounts on merch, a monthly crowler or growler and a lot more.
This community supported brewery is on their way to having a brick-and-mortar place in the near future and we can’t wait. I know they’re going to do well, as it sounds like they are doing all of the right things in building a solid foundation by already brewing excellent beer, giving back to and supporting the local community – by buying local ingredients to support local business and their involvement in a charitable organization called Beer Babes Family, that supports inclusiveness for women in beer.
As of right now you can only find their beer at beer festivals that they are a part of, but they attend several throughout the year, so follow them on social media and look for their calendar on their website that will list where they will be attending upcoming beer fests.
I’ve been lucky enough to attend 2 beer fests in the last year and a half that they were at and was able to have a total of 6 different beers that were all fantastic. The Dark Divination, which is a dark lager, is my favorite so far (I do love dark lagers) but I’ve also had their Maple Bacon Pepper Porter, Sour Me Cheesecake, Octoberfest, Cinna-Roll Stout and Pie Gose With Everything – all excellent beers in various styles- which I love about them.
I was a fan of Dark Shadow before getting to meet them on our podcast, and now an even bigger one. I’m going to continue to support them every chance I get, and I hope everyone does the same. Please check out their website at https://www.darkshadowbrewingco.com to learn more about their awesome story, how you can become a supporter, where to locate them at upcoming beer fests, to buy merchandise and so much more. Follow them on social media, as well, to stay current with everything they’re doing and are involved with. Listen to them on our podcast also for even more detail about how they formed, what a community supported brewery is and where some of their creativity and inspirations come from.
