This past weekend I went to Knoxville to visit some friends and hit (3) different breweries on Saturday. Two of them were brand new and one of them I had been to before but needed to get a sticker, that they didn’t have last time. (as well as new beer)
Yee-Haw Brewing Company
We started out at the new Yee-Haw Brewing Company located at 745 N Broadway St, Knoxville, TN 37917. This is one heck of a campus! It has a main taproom that has multiple food options you can order from including Prince’s Hot Chicken. Prince’s actually had more than just hot chicken on their menu, they actually had smash burgers too! When you walk out of the main taproom and outside into their huge patio / beer garden area you can see a large stage, a giant TV, dozens of tables and even another outside bar. While we were there, a food truck pulled up outside of the fenced in area, that had a gate within the fencing that opened up to accommodate the food truck walk up window from the inside. I just thought it was a brilliant idea and design. This place is great, and we had such a nice day to sit outside. I had 3 new beers from them – Yee-Hazy, Humulonimbus Clouds and Postcards From the Coast, which was a collab with Edmund’s Oast Brewing Company – all very good beers.
This place reminded me of the Yee-Haw campus in Nashville in the way it’s laid out and how spacious it is, as well as having Prince’s there. Well Done!
Schulz Brau Brewing Company
Our second stop was Schulz Brau Brewing Company which is located at 126 Bernard Ave, Knoxville, TN 37917 and with walking distance of Yee-Haw. This is a very cool “German” brewery that has an awesome biergarten and bierhall and is built in the shape of a castle. They have 32 taps with a few of them being guest taps. Their beers are all German styles including an Oktoberfest, Roggenbier, Kolsch and Dunkel. I had 6 new beers consisting of a flight of 4 and 2 pints – Pilsner, Oktoberfest, Festbier, Kolsch, Munich Helles and Roggenbier. All excellent German style beers! The whole vibe and atmosphere are German-like including German food like schnitzel, brats and goulash.
They had a live band playing outside and their website shows they have a ton of events including their Oktoberfest that lasts 2 weeks and their upcoming Christkindlesmarkt, which is a traditional German Christmas market. You should really check their website out as they have A LOT going on at all times. Definitely check this place out – you won’t be disappointed.
Last Days of Autumn Brewing
Our 3rd brewery of the day was Last Days of Autumn Brewing, which is the brewery I have been to before but still needed a sticker from. I remembered their beer being solid and certainly wanted to have some more of it. I had a flight of (4) consisting of – Pardon My Garden IPA, Da Svidania, Ghost Princess and Amber Rye IPA. More solid and excellent beer that day! The one that stands out the most is the Ghost Princess – it’s an IPA infused with ghost peppers and let me tell you – it’s not just a hint of it. It’s certainly not overpowering but the pepper is definitely there and if this was in a pint, I would have had a hard time finishing it in a reasonable amount of time.
I haven’t had any of their food yet in either trip but I’ve seen some of the pictures of it an looked at the menu and it looks amazing. One of these days I will get back there to eat – and of course drink.
I’m sad to say I didn’t get any pictures while there but check out their website or better yet go visit them.
