Sunday FunDay!

Posted by

Yesterday was Sunday FunDay! Steve and I “Adventured” around town to get a little food and hit a couple of breweries. We started at ML Rose – Sylvan Park on Charlotte Ave, to get some food in order to get a base down for proper beer drinking. Next, we went down the street to visit Bassline Brewing Company – since Steve hadn’t been yet – and we have something upcoming with them. To round the day out, we went over to Tailgate Brewery – South Nashville at the new Tanger Outlets to visit their new location and help them drink their beer.

M.L. Rose Craft Beer & Burgers – Sylvan Park

4408 Charlotte Ave, Nashville, TN 37209.

We started over here to get some food and a couple of beers to warmup for the breweries we were going to visit. They’ve always got good food and surprisingly neither one of us got a burger – which is what they’re famous for. I had wings and Steve had a salad, their service is always good, and the food came out quickly.

Their craft beer menu is vast, and they cover just about every style you can think of. Their beer menu consistently changes with the seasons with both local and non-local options. I had a Hazy Blues from Oskar Blues and Old Speckled Hen Nitro.

Bassline Brewing Company

410 39th Ave N. Nashville, TN 37209, in the L&L Market Building.

From ML Rose we went right down the street to Bassline Brewing Company as this was one of the main reasons for getting out yesterday. (We have something cool upcoming with Bassline this week that we’ll report on once it’s done.) This was Steve’s first visit here and my second in less than a week. (We both have been here when it was Bold Patriot) Our buddy Chris joined us here for a while until we left. I know Steve got a flight and I believe Chris did too – I had a few pints. I really like their beers and the various styles they’re putting out. Chris Dolan is their new Head Brewer and he’s doing a phenomenal job. They are adding food very soon in their taproom and we’ll be back to check that out.

They have a Classic West Coast IPA that is hoppy and a color that doesn’t look like any West Coast IPA I’ve had but it’s excellent and blows my mind that it’s a WCIPA.

They have a great spacious place with plenty of seating that includes their own patio area. They even have a stage inside for live music.

Their location is in the L&L Market Building that has several other businesses in it including a Thai restaurant, a milkshake bar, a coffee shop as well as some retail shops.

The 2 bartenders that I met in my 2 visits are a lot of fun. I met Tavis last week in my first visit and we got talking about beer, whiskey and bourbon balls. He’s a real good dude and gave me the recipe for the bourbon balls AND he came into the taproom yesterday while we were there and brought in some of the bourbon balls he made, for us to have. They were great!

Austin worked yesterday and he was friendly and funny, and we talked Titans, Josh Dobbs and Preds. He was cool enough to give us some Preds swag and Bassline stickers.

Tailgate Brewery – South Nashville

4060 Cane Ridge Parkway, suite 615, Antioch, TN 37013, located at the new Tanger Outlets.

After we left Bassline, we shot over to South Nashville to visit the brand-new Tailgate Brewery that we’ve been looking forward to for a while now. It’s closer to our side of town and will be a good mid-point meetup spot for Steve and me.

Getting into Tanger’s was not easy, I think most of Nashville was there. There were people walking around and crossing the streets non-stop so that cars coming in couldn’t get through because of the constant stream of people crossing the roads and parking lots. I think some cross walk lights would be beneficial to help with that. I digress.

Tailgate itself though was great and I like their indoor and outdoor spaces they have. It’s very spacious and spread out. There was a line for ordering beer when we walked in, but they were efficient, and it moved quickly. I think they have a good system in that after you order a beer, and you have an open tab – you don’t go back through the same line again – you just order further down the bar at one of the many mobile tablets they have set up. I don’t think we really waited at all for the rest of the beers we ordered.

They have a ton of styles on their board and their website says they have 30 taps consisting of beers, ciders and seltzers on draft and a full food menu that consists of their famous pizzas and several other options.

I really enjoyed this place and the proximity to home is great, hopefully next time we go, there will be just a little less traffic so we can find a parking spot that isn’t in Smyrna.

Cheers!

Scott
